The automated control system (ACS) as the core of the complex system for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and controlled weapon counteraction has been rationalized. It is shown that the effectiveness of automated radar detection of small-sized UAVs critically depends not so much on their effective radar cross-section (ERCS), but more on flight altitude and interfering reflections from clouds and birds. Based on the analysis of modern threats and mathematical modeling, a network-centric automated control system architecture is proposed that combines heterogeneous means of reconnaissance and destruction. Targeting algorithms for the group use of UAVs, including optimization with limited resources, are considered. The directions of automated control system development using artificial intelligence technology are presented.
