Abstract:

Over the past decades, contract organizations for the development and production of industrial products have established themselves as a viable alternative to in-house departments. However, despite significant prospects and opportunities, in today's market, choosing a contract manufacturer is associated with a wide range of risks and uncertainties. Of particular importance in this context is the technological uncertainty associated with the technical condition of the production system, the stability of technological processes, and the reliability of equipment.

Objective – the purpose of this article is to develop a structural-parametric model of contract manufacturer process uncertainty.

A structural-parametric model of contract manufacturer process uncertainty has been developed. Its distinctive feature is the combination of the entropy characteristic of process variability with an indicator of equipment reliability.

Field testing of the model has shown that it effectively identifies hidden threats associated with process instability and time lost due to reworking defective items.
