Abstract:

The possibility of increasing the efficiency of complex detection and recognition systems through multi-alternative solutions has been analyzed. To assess the efficiency of a complex system, the well-known information theory metric of the average amount of mutual (pairwise) information is used. A new efficiency metric, the relative number of effectively (in terms of information redundancy) combined means, has been proposed. It has been shown that the transition from conventional two-alternative private solutions to three-alternative solutions provides a more than 40% increase in information efficiency based on this metric.
