Abstract:
The method for discrete signal recognition in the presence of additive noise, with the use of two information transmission channels containing both discrete signals and noises, is proposed. The method is based on the correlation of noises in the transmission channels. For noise compensation the linear correlation function between the noses in two channels is chosen and its parameter is determined on the basis of the maximum of the signal-to-noise ratio. The signal-to-noise ratio for the signal in the first channel and for the noise obtained as a result of compensation are determined, and it is proven that the gain is always achieved except the case when the channels are linearly dependent. Situations when the correlation coefficient between the noises is equal to unity or minus unity are considered separately. For a composition of normal noises, the probability of correct recognition of a discrete signal in two channels after the compensation is defined.
