Abstract:

In a rapidly changing healthcare landscape, digital solutions and information systems are playing an increasingly important role in improving patient care, efficiency and the overall quality of healthcare systems. From electronic medical records to telemedicine, healthcare facilities are using innovative technologies to streamline processes, improve decision-making and ensure patient safety. With this in mind, the purpose of this article is to examine opportunities to improve the quality of medical support and reduce medical errors through the use of modern software tools. In the course of the study the peculiarities of information technologies in healthcare are highlighted, their characterisation and key distinguishing features are presented. Also the main groups of the most popular information technologies are described in a generalised form, their key capabilities and spheres of application are detailed. On the example of the system of support for medical decision-making in the anaesthesiology-reanimation department, which is developed and implemented on the basis of Samara State Medical University, the practical aspects of using digital tools that help doctors to make more informed decisions using evidence-based data are considered. In particular, the main functional blocks of the system, applied algorithms, methods and sources of patient database formation are described. Particular emphasis is placed on the advantages and distinctive features of the system that ensure its high reliability and intelligent data processing capabilities. The practical application of the results obtained in the course of the study will allow to assess the impact of various information technologies on improving patient safety outcomes, which can find its application directly in medical institutions, as well as at the level of relevant agencies making decisions on reforms in the health care system.
