Abstract:
In the article possibilities of robotic catheters application are reflected for operations using interventional radiology methods. Advantages and drawbacks of robotic catheters and also main construction principles of these systems are determined. Division is marked by types of catheter delivery on roller, grasping, sliding and magnetic. An analysis of robotic catheters development and main concepts in this field is made. Main types of robotic catheters that are used at this moment in clinical practice are described. Magnetic type catheters are controlled by magnetic field. Among them Niobe, Vdrive, Catheter Guidance Control and Imaging (CGCI) are described. In roller type catheters the catheter is moved forward by rotational movement of roller system and is turned by their transversal movement. Among these catheters a robotized catheter from Japan for neurosurgery is described. Core Path catheter used in clinical practice and Magellan robotic catheter for intravascular operations belong to this type. Magellan stands on the edge of roller and sliding types of catheters and combines both types in one device. Among robotic catheters of sliding type Sensei and Amigo are described.
