Abstract:

The defining focus of training specialists in managing the use of various types of complex objects, particularly electronic equipment (EE), is the development and application of intelligent training systems (ITS). At the initial stage of their lifecycle, the task arises of representing them in the form of a functional design – the basis for developing methods for mathematical modeling of the structure, characteristics, and information support for the purpose of substantiating and selecting the preferred ITS design.

Objective – to develop a functional method for synthesizing an ITS to formalize its functional design (FD) based on an analysis of decision-makers' activities in managing the use of EE under a variety of conditions of interaction with the external environment.

Unlike the classical design approach, this method is based on a systems approach to synthesizing the functional aspects of the ITS, utilizing and introducing new principles, categories, models, and procedures at the external and internal design stages. It is based on identifying and establishing the functions performed by decision makers at various stages of the electronic equipment application across a variety of interaction conditions with the external environment, formalizing them, and developing principles, categories, and procedures that support the methodical development of the synthesis task. The introduction of a system of synthesis principles and categories ensures the development of the ITS synthesis process in terms of time and detail of consideration, implementing the fundamental categorical principles of the theory of cycles, expressed in the concepts of system time and the wheel of time. Aggregation and decomposition of the task of synthesizing the functional appearance of the ITS, in accordance with the theory of cycles, is carried out on a multifaceted representation across synthesis levels, based on establishing a hierarchical relationship between pairs of aspects and reproducing solutions to specific synthesis problems at each level of the decomposed hierarchical structure. In each pair of aspects, they are represented based on the formalization of aggregation and decomposition functions as corresponding sets of feasible ITS options, taking into account the intended application and technical feasibility. These functions do not have an analytical solution and are solved heuristically, taking into account the information links between decision makers on the corresponding aspects and the consistency of their decisions when transforming the ITS option selection problem from a lower to a higher synthesis aspect. Aggregation of the ITS functional area synthesis problem is based on the transformation of information at the upper levels of the structure through the introduction of formalized decomposition and aggregation functions for lower-level information.

The proposed method of functional synthesis provides a solution to the problem of substantiating preferred options for the functional design of an ITS, which forms the basis for automating its design process. The method can form the basis for automated design systems for various types of training systems.
