Problem statement. The rapid evolution of mobile objects (MOs) and the widening range of their applications place increasing demands on MO-mounted radio communication systems responsible for transmitting control commands, telemetry, and high-resolution video. Designing such systems requires balancing data rate against operational range, with additional constraints imposed by antenna size, weight, and onboard power consumption. Thus, the development of solutions that achieve the required data rate at a given range under stringent size, weight, and power limitations is of particular relevance.
Objective. Experimental assessment of the wireless communication system suite performance over propagation paths of varying lengths, as well as analysis of the convergence between calculated and experimentally measured received signal levels.
Results. The paper presents experimental studies of the communication system characteristics under real-world operating conditions at distances ranging from 30 to 45,000 meters.
Practical significance. The developed communication system suite can be successfully employed to provide data exchange between the mobile object and the ground control station.
The work was carried out with the financial support of a Grant in the form of a research grant from the Committee on Science and Innovation of the Tula Region No. 15 dated June 21, 2024.
