Problem Statement. Frequency scanning antennas allow for spatial deflection of the main lobe without the use of phase shifters. However, existing solutions for implementing such antennas are characterized by low efficiency and instability of frequency characteristics, making the development of new designs for such antennas relevant. Objective. To propose an antenna design that implements the principle of frequency scanning based on the diffraction of electromagnetic waves by an amplitude reflective diffraction grating. Results. The design of a frequency-scanning antenna based on an amplitude reflective diffraction grating is presented. The main dependences of frequency scanning on the characteristics of the diffraction line are demonstrated. The characteristics of the most optimal antenna array design consisting of four excitation lines are presented. The occurrence of the wave slowing effect and its influence on frequency scanning characteristics are demonstrated. Practical Relevance. The use of the proposed design allows for the simplification of the design of frequency-scanning antennas, increased efficiency, and improved tuning accuracy for adjusting the spatial position of the main lobe.
