Abstract:

Restoration of upper limb function following trauma, injuries, stroke, and neuromuscular disorders remains a complex medical challenge. Existing rehabilitation methods often require long‑term stays in medical centers, do not always ensure independent training of each finger, and lack adaptation to home‑based conditions. The shortage of affordable, autonomous, and ergonomic devices for fine motor skills reduces the effectiveness of recovery and impairs patients’ quality of life.

Development of a medical robotic exoglove for upper limb rehabilitation that provides independent control of each finger, self‑contained power supply, the ability to combine exercises with varying ranges of motion, as well as adaptation to the patient’s anthropometric parameters for home use.

A structural and functional architecture of the device is proposed, including a battery power system, a control unit, independent finger modules with motor control boards, screw drives, elastic bellows‑type mechanisms, and feedback sensors. A prototype of the exoglove has been developed, featuring adjustable length for each finger, spacing between modules, and forearm circumference.

The device can be applied in the rehabilitation of patients after stroke, phalangeal fractures, muscle atrophy, contractures, and neuromuscular disorders. Its autonomy, low weight, ease of donning, and suitability for independent use reduce the burden on medical personnel. The possibility of separate finger training enables the restoration of fine motor skills, including those required for professional activities.
