Abstract:

Hall sensors with a built-in analog-to-digital converter (HSADC) are widely used in medical instrumentation, in particular in magnetotherapy devices, MRI tomography and 3D magnetic field scanners. The efficiency of such equipment directly depends on the accuracy of these sensors. Therefore, reliable determination of the metrological characteristics of HSADC is a mandatory step in their practical application. The main difficulty in metrological testing of HSADC is associated with the need to generate a controlled high-precision and uniform magnetic field (MF), which requires the use of a precision current source and Helmholtz coils. New approaches to ADC testing are known, which can be applicable to HSADC with an appropriate conversion of the test signal (TS) in the form of a triangular voltage into current, and then into MF. Their advantage is reducing the requirements for the accuracy of reference measuring instruments through the use of precision techniques. One such approach is the sliding histogram method, which allows obtaining a complete picture of the real transfer function (TF) of the ADC and does not depend on the nonlinearity of the TS. In this paper, this method is adapted for testing HSADC, for which a positive decision on the grant of a Russian Federation patent has been received.
