Nanostructured functional materials, in particular spinel ceramics, chalcogenide glass, and chalcohalide glass-ceramics, are increasingly used as active media in sensors, optoelectronics, photonics, telecommunications systems, and optical memory devices. In today's society, they are becoming an indispensable component for building intelligent sensor-based information-measuring systems. Furthermore, cyber-physical systems, which represent complex platforms of interconnected components, have recently undergone intensive development. The challenges of implementing such technical solutions require the development of new approaches that would enable the production of stable sensor elements and structures with predefined functional properties at the nanostructural level.
Therefore, the use of glass- and ceramic-based functional materials with an optimal free-space structure under study ensures not only the effective performance of sensor elements based on them but also the ability to modify them under external factors or by introducing additional components into the material structure (including nanoparticles) to improve and expand their properties in modern sensor and cyber-physical systems.
