Abstract:

The increasing functional complexity and miniaturization of onboard electronics in un-manned aerial vehicles (UAVs), as well as the use of extended interconnections and highly sensitive radionavigation and communication channels, increase the requirements for electromagnetic immunity under high-power electromagnetic disturbances. Existing approaches to improving electro-magnetic immunity are often considered separately rather than systematically, which complicates the comparison of protective measures and the selection of appropriate solutions for a specific UAV architecture and dominant interference coupling paths.

To review and systematize modern methods for ensuring the electromagnetic immunity of UAV onboard electronics based on the analysis of typical architecture, classification of electromagnetic disturbances and interference coupling mechanisms, as well as identification of the most vulnerable units and interconnections.

Based on the review, a classification of electromagnetic disturbances and interference coupling paths is presented, the most vulnerable units and interconnections are identified, and assessment methods and protective measures are systematized with indication of their applicability areas and limitations.

The materials of the study can be used by UAV onboard electronics developers as a reference basis for the justified selection of electromagnetic immunity assessment methods and protective measures at the stages of design, prototyping, and testing.
