Abstract:

Application of the active electronically steered arrays (AESA) in the communication systems and radars offer many promises with application flexibility, while one of the primary goals in the design is to reduce the weight and size parameters and the cost of the AESA by developing more advanced broadband antenna elements.

The main tasks of the article are design of a printed antenna element based on numerical modeling and study of the antenna array characteristics based on the developed element.

Design of the broadband printed antenna array based on the resonator-slot antenna elements of the “butterfly” type in the operating frequency band of 6% has a minimum reflection coefficient for each parameters: resonator height 0,052λ0, slot length 0,44λ0 and feed line length 0,148λ0. Antenna array has reduced profile height on 76% as against variant with vibrator elements and has scanning in the wide angle sector ±55° and ±60° in the Н- and Е-plane respectively.
