Abstract:

An initial form of radiation pattern of antenna array is often disturbed when maximizing of signal-to-interference-plus-noise-ratio (SINR) using the extremal properties of eigenvalues of regular pencil of Hermitian forms. In accordance with the method of nulls forming in radiation patterns of active phased antenna arrays in directions of interference sources presented in our previous works the special form of radiation pattern generally is kept when maximizing SINR. When utilizing the element-by-element method, the order of Hermitian forms matrices is equal to the number of antenna array elements. So the efficiency of on-line evaluation of weight coefficients (currents) ensuring the nulls forming in direction of interference sources without essential deformation of radiation pattern is decreased for large arrays. The subarrays method is used for the large antenna arrays in which the array elements are algorithmically combined in groups (subarrays) and the optimization task is solved relatively of subarrays.

The goal of this paper is the improvement of efficiency of on-line evaluation of the weight coefficients (currents) ensuring the nulls forming in the interference sources directions without essential deformation of radiation pattern.

The method of nulls forming in radiation patterns of special kind for large active phased antenna arrays has been proposed in which the optimization problem is solved for subarrays and the form of radiation pattern is kept. Comparison of the suggested subarrays method and the element-by-element method of nulls forming shows that the use of subarray method when maximizing SINR by means of nulls forming in directions of the interference sources dramatically reduce computation time for evaluation of currents in elements of active phased antenna arrays.

Thus, the subarrays method is preferable in the cases when the fast on-line optimization method is required.
