Abstract:

In is known that there are some factors which influence the direction finding accuracy in the scanning phased array: signal-to-noise ratio at the out-put of each radiator of phased array; amplitude-phase errors in the desired amplitude-phase distribution of the radiated (received) field in the phase array aperture; polarization errors due to distinction of polarization directional patterns of radiators and array in whole from received field polarization; mutual coupling of radiators in phased array which leads to the anomalous dependence of phased array gain in the scan angles sector; errors in the algorithm and phase shifters handling system of phased array; not good enough matching of the radiators of the phased array; errors in the algorithm and system of direction finding.

In the article the problem of influence of amplitude-phase distribution in the array feed and in the feedthrough monopulse phased array aperture on the direction finding accuracy has been considered.

The relations which allow determining the peak deterministic error of direction finding with using of phased array with a square and circular aperture because of inaccuracy of field summing in the feed matrix have been derived.

The requirements to the allowable random errors of phasing in the array aperture which ensure the fixed error of direction finding for the known antenna size have been determined.
