Abstract:

It has been shown that roughness of the shielding surfaces of the waveguides is equivalent to the decrease in conductivity of these surfaces compared to the values concerning to the boundary conditions of Shukin–Leontovich for perfectly smooth of surfaces. The examples of calculation of the attenuation coefficient of a circular waveguide with rough screening surfaces in the terahertz frequency range have been presented. The influence of the size and shape of the irregularities of the rough surface profile on attenuation of the waveguide has been studied. The statistical characteristics of different models of rough surface profile have been given.
