Abstract:

It has been shown that roughness of the shielding surfaces of waveguides is equivalent to decrease in conductivity of these surfaces compared to the values concerning to the boundary conditions of Shukin–Leontovich for perfectly smooth surfaces. The examples of calculation of the attenuation coefficient of a rectangular waveguide with rough screening surfaces in the terahertz frequency range have been presented. The influence of the size and shape of the irregularities of the rough surface profile on the waveguide attenuation has been studied. The statistical characteristics of different models of rough surface profile have been given.
