Abstract:

Different methods of calculating of the dispersion characteristics of open dielectric waveguides have been compared. The focus is on the spectral method that uses a stand-alone expansion of the field components, and the modified method of partial areas, which leads to the dispersion equation in the form of zero determinant of the second order and allows avoiding calculation of ill-conditioned matrices.
