Abstract:
According to the Kirchhoff approximation, the optimal parameters of the out-of-phase antenna designed to measure the effective scattering surface (ESS) of targets at polygons in the far zone have been computed numerically. It has been shown that when measuring target ESS with an optimal out-of-phase antenna, with other equal conditions when measuring ESS with a synphased antenna, the sensitivity of the polygon increases by 6–13 dB and the polygon size decreases in 1,5–2 times, depending on the ratio of the antenna aperture size and the target size.
