Conversion of spherical wavefront into arbitrary wavefront by dual-reflector antenna

Abstract:
There are known calculation methods for dual-reflector antenna which is capable to convert spherical wavefront with known angular distribution of power density into plane wavefront with a given distribution of power density across the antenna aperture [1−6]. The matter of spherical wavefront conversion into arbitrary wavefront with a given angular distribution of power density for dual-reflector antenna is studied insufficiently. The paper gives a method of calculation for dual-reflector antenna converting spherical wavefront into arbitrary wavefront. The wavefront conversion is achieved via second-order partial differential equation such as Monge-Ampère equation [1−4]. The paper presents main equations for the calculation of the reflector and convergent reflector surfaces of the antenna for a given wavefront conversion.
