Experimental research of a leaky-wave antenna based on a partially filled rectangular waveguide with transverse slots

Abstract:
Results of experimental research of a leaky-wave antenna based on the rectangular waveguide with transverse slots and layered cross-section structure have been presented in this paper. Design of a prototype has been described; conclusion about boundaries of its application has been made. Experimental values of the scattering matrix elements, far field radiation patterns, measured in the anechoic chamber, have been given. The observed trends have been analyzed; comparison of obtained results with the results of computer modeling and preliminary theoretical calculations has been carried out. The correctness of the previously developed calculation technique of complex propagation constant of eigenwaves of a slotted radiated structure based on a partially filled rectangular waveguide has been confirmed. The conclusion about the validity of the investigated antenna type representation as a uniform linear array has been made.
