Abstract:
Dual beam transmit/receive reflector antenna for K/Ka-bands geostationary satellite transponder is proposed. One beam of the antenna is continuously directed at the Korean peninsula and the second beam has contoured shape and is aimed at one of the four directions and is reconfigured by substitution of shaped subreflector in order to serve sequentially four regions of South-East Asia.
Concept of the antenna mounted on a side satellite panel has been suggested; subreflectors - positions and shapes providing corres-pondent switchable contoured beams have been optimized for maximum coverage efficiency of all contoured beams by geometrical op-tics and physical optics. Despite the tight requirements such as operation at two frequency bands, forming two beams simultaneously, switching beams by replacement subreflectors, the antenna beams have high coverage efficiencies for the given service areas.
