Method of constructive synthesis of planar transmitting active phased array antenna on basis of the neural network approach

Abstract:
The method of structural synthesis of planar transmitting active phased array antenna has been suggested. The aperture geometry is generated using neural network and additional restrictions on the antenna size and spacing between its elements. This allows for a constant number of unknown coefficients of synaptic connections obtaining the aperture geometries with different number of elements. In process of synthesis problem solving the standard deviation between a synthesized and a given directional patterns with account of additional restriction on the ratio between the radiated power and the antenna array energy potential is minimized. The proposed approach makes it possible increasing the energy of the active phased array antenna. The method is promising in terms of solving the problems intended for reducing of cost, power consumption and optimization of the distribution in the aperture of microwave amplifiers with given ratings. Implementation of the proposed method has been demonstrated by the example of solving the problem of structural synthesis of the active phased array antenna with a predetermined directional pattern in the form of an in plane expanded beam.
