S-band flat antenna array of volume radiators with the improved characteristics

Abstract:
The designing of the sixteen-element antenna array consisting of volume microstrip radiators is described in this paper. Each of radiators is the square plate which is located under the flat screen. The radiator is excited by the wide square inclined plate which is connected to microstrip balanced line by the coaxial-to-strip adapter. The parametric analysis was carried out. Results of numerical researches and measurements are given and discussed. The antenna matching and radiation characteristics are presented in this work for various topologies of the antenna array. The comparative analysis of the calculated dependences and measurements is carried out. The obtained results can be used for designing of flat antenna arrays with the improved characteristics.
