Abstract:
Construction of modern radar systems, especially those which are based on PAA and AESA, requires automated control and calibration facilities. For radar parameters calibration, a broadband continuous and/or the pulse-modulated noise signal source is used. Compact temperature-compensated calibrated microwave noise generator (PCNG) structure, design and parameters are discussed. The designed PCNG is characterized with relatively high integrated noise power output. It is shown that obtained technical and operational characteristics of the PCNG exceeds those which are provided by commercially available units. The device is recommended for use as a reference noise generator in X-band advanced radar systems.
