The results of linear-polarized low backside radiation level L-band radiator design are presented. The patch-radiator with two radiating elements was used in the design. The radiator of this type has a sufficient bandwidth and a low profile construction. To reduce the backside radiation level as well as the difference between beam widths in the two principle planes (E- and H-planes), a ring screen was implemented. This ring screen has allowed backside radiation level reduction down to - 21.6 dB and beam widths difference reduction to 6.
