Abstract:
Comparative efficacy of reception of signals from HF radio sources by the antenna arrays of different types (phased-array antenna of the product RDS-2K-GP, designed by "Radiy TN" company, and the traveling-wave antennas BS2 and 3BS2) is evaluated in this article. The single element of the phased-array antenna is the system consisting of two mutually orthogonal dipoles, which is placed on the mast at a height of 4,5 m. The indubitable advantages of the antenna array of the product RDS-2K-GP in comparison with BS2 and 3BS2 antennas are significantly less occupied area, ability to receive signals with arbitrary polarization as well as availability of adaptation to the direction of arrival and polarization of the incoming wave and implementation of optimal polarization processing. Comparison of the theoretical and experimental results for the mentioned types of antennas is given in the article. The outcomes of the experiment revealed that efficacy of reception of signals from radio sources, which are less than 5 thousand km distant from the receiving center, by the antenna array of the product RDS-2K-GP is either comparable or better than by BS2 and 3BS2 antennas; the antenna array of the product RDS-2K-GP provides reception of signals from radio sources, which are more than 5 thousand km distant from the receiving center, at 5 - 12 dB worse than BS2 and 3BS2 antennas under the stipulation that maximum of directional pattern of the BS2 or 3BS2 antennas coincide with angular coordinates of radio sources. It is shown that experimentally measured levels of signals received by the compared antennas correspond to the electrodynamic simulation of their directional characteristics in whole. The completed analysis of the examined antennas availabilities in the area of detection and reception of HF signals has revealed the prospects of the further development of the antenna system of the product RDS-2K-GP. A number of arrangements are proposed to increase effectiveness of grazing rays reception by this antenna system, particularly increase of the antenna array aperture size and quantity of antenna elements with finding capability of optimal height of antenna elements lift.
