Abstract:
Thin-walled cylindrical shell is considered which is reinforced with rectangular cross section frames under external pressure. Elastic and inelastic solutions are considered. Under the given method, the author carries out the analysis of the stress-strain behavior and stability of a structure with constant weight under its various distributions between the shell and the frames, as well as the analysis of the shell reinforcements geometrical properties (height of frames, distance between frames) impact on critical load. The calculations are based on the finite-element method. In contrast to analytical methods, finite-element method accounts possible inelastic deformations of material which strongly influences on stability of structure under non-homogeneous stress.
