Abstract:
The physical basis for building multi-band horns with arbitrary ratio of central frequency and operating bandwidth of at least 20 % from carrier frequency in each band. The basis for constructing such horns is the use of complex-shaped grooves, in particular the one-, two- and three-stage grooves. Using a multi-grooves in the corrugated horn can significantly improve the range of properties, providing the possibility of combining ranges with arbitrary ratio of the central frequency and a wider band of operating frequencies in each band. At the same directional characteristic of the feed is not worse than the directional characteristics of single-band horns in the respective ranges.
The features of the design decisions, as well as the electrical characteristics of accessible multi-band reflector antennas irradiators based on the conical corrugated horn designed for use in various foster high-reflector antennas, with examples of structures built, tri-band and quad-corrugated horns.
The choice of parameters for building quad horn, which provides the combination of frequency bands with a ratio of 1:2:3:5. The results of numerical modeling and experimental investigation of the horn.
The article shows that the use of corrugated horn in the construction of multiband antenna system provides a high energy performance and significantly reduces costs for the organization and maintenance of communication lines.
