Directional Pattern Synthesis of Linear Antenna Array on the Given Envelope of a Directional Pattern Sidelobes

Abstract:
Numerically steady synthesis algorithm of amplitude-phase distribution is developed for linear antenna arrays (LAA) on the given envelope of a pattern sidelobes. Step-by-step approach is applied for achievement of a high precision to the given envelope of a pattern sidelobe maximums. As the initial pattern is used the pattern of LAA with uniform amplitude distribution. Given sidelobes levels of a pattern for synthesis are decreased with discrete, inversely proportional to the chosen number of steps. On each step the over specified system of linear algebraic equations (SLAE) is solved, complex amplitudes of radiator current are defined, directional pattern of LAA and sidelobe envelope of pattern are calculated. Solution SLAE on each step is executed by an iteration conjugate gradients method. As an example in paper results of synthesis of amplitude-phase distribution on given sidelobes envelope of pattern for equidistant linear antenna arrays with number of radiators 32, 48 and 66 are presented. Work of algorithm is illustrated by numerical examples for linear antenna arrays with a falling down level of side-lobes, Dolf-chebyshev pattern, with wide null, and also with the cosecant form of pattern beam. The received results are demonstrated solution possibility of an amplitude-phase synthesis on given sidelobe envelope of pattern with high enough accuracy.
