Design and making problems of multiband fractal microwave antennas

Abstract:
In the last time the main attention is given to development of small-size antenna systems of the microwave range which characteristics vary in given ranges in very wide band. Fractal antennas belong to the class of modern ultrabandwidth multiband antennas. Fractal structures are self-similar at various scales also do not have the characteristic size as the infinite number of scales and the sizes is observed in one object. In the present paper the features of design and making of multiband fractal microwave antennas are researched. Simulation results of the fractal antenna on the basis of a Minkovsky curve in software package HFSS are given, and also influence of geometrical parameters of such fractal antenna on its electrical characteristics is researched. It is shown, that decrease of width of a substrate and increase of strip width lead to improvement of the fractal Minkovsky antenna matching, and a variation of a substrate permittivity leads to bias of its working frequency band. In the paper results of simulation, making and experimental researches of the antenna on the basis of Serpinsky fractal are also presented. The good agreement of theoretical and experimental data of the manufactured fractal Serpinsky antenna is obtained. Results of the given researches can be interesting for engineers of modern microwave antenna systems.
