Synthesis of Cylindrical Arc Phased Antenna Arrays

Abstract:
This paper describes a new approach to the synthesis of cylindrical antenna arrays controlled by the phase excitation, including syn-thesis of the directive lobe and multilobes patterns with steered null. The proposed method is based on iterative minimization of a function that incorporates constraints imposed in each direction. An 8-elements cylindrical antenna has been simulated and tested for various types of beam configurations. The technique has shown its ability to generate reasonable results in all checked cases. The figures presented in the paper can be used to observe the performance of our algorithm. These figures show good simulation results in terms of accuracy and efficiency of the model. This algorithm holds not only for the examples presented above but also appears to be general for all cases of synthesized desired characteristics of steered beams.
