This paper reflects the state-of-the-art and perspectives of new and rapidly growing field, dealing with beamforming theory and technique in ultra-wideband (UWB) active phased antenna arrays (APAA) based on fiber-optic and opto-electronic technology to control transmit and receive APAA. Principal attention is focused on APAA operating with UWB and ultra-short pulses (UPS): radio- USP and video-USP of - 1 ns time duration, named in the paper RP PAA and VP PAA, correspondingly.
