Abstract:
An elementwise iterative synthesis method is proposed for solving the amplitude pattern synthesis problem for array antennas with reactive loads. The synthesis problem is solved as an approximation problem for a specified amplitude pattern and is reduced to an iterative search for the minimum value of a positively semidefinite functional of the squared absolute value of the difference between the specified and actually synthesized patterns. At each iteration of this iterative process, the minimum of this functional is found analytically, which increases the spped and stability of operation of the proposed synthesis method. Features of this method are numerically investigated by the following examples: (i) synthesis of an 11-element linear array of half-wave dipoles and (ii) synthesis of a 10-element Yagi antenna.
