Abstract:

Pelvic venous insufficiency (PVI) in women is considered as a chronic pathological process with a recurrent course and progressive transformation of veins. Oxidative stress (OS) reactions are currently considered as the most important markers of destructive manifestations of the pathological process. Excessive production of oxidants in PVI is caused by pelvic venous dyscirculatory disorders, hypoxemia and ischemia of organs that accelerate the formation of toxic lipid peroxidation (LPO) products while reducing their neutralization processes. In violations of the pro- and antioxidant balance assessing, the calculation of integral indicators is considered the most optimal. Lipid peroxidation reactions studing specifics a particular relevance at the regional level. It will allow us to approach the problem of using antioxidants in the treatment and prevention of PVI from a modern perspective and, thereby, activate reparative processes in the wall of the vein involved in regional blood flow. The aim of the study was to determine the values of the oxidative stress coefficient in pelvic local blood flow in women with varicose veins. Spectrophotometric, fluorometric, statistic methods were used. The assessment showed the presence of statistically significant differences in the LPO-AOD system in the group with grade 1 PVI severity: higher values of LH, CDs, TBARs, SOD activity, catalase level, GPO level compared to the control. Also, women with mild PVI had decreased GSH level compared with controls. Grade 2 PVI severity differed from the control values by higher content of LH, CDs, TBARs, GPO, GR, G-S-T relative to the control. Reduced activity of SOD and GSH was detected in the AOD system in comparison with the control. At grade 3 PVI severity, the highest levels of LH, CDs, and TBARs were recorded. The AOD system was characterized by low values of SOD, catalase, GPO, GR, G-S-T, GSH relative to the control data. OSI increased in grade 1 and 2 severity of PVI in comparison with the control. The maximum values of OSI were observed at grade 3 of PVI severity. The values of the integral coefficient confirmed negative changes in the local blood flow of the pelvic veins in women with PVI in the form of a shift in the balance towards prooxidant factors as the severity of the disease increases.
