Based on our own experience and data of domestic and foreign authors we present the main problematic aspects of diag-nostics and treatment tactics in patients with polytrauma of the pelvis. Based on literature data we identified the main reasons for posttraumatic deformity formation of the pelvic ring, and presented radiographic diagnostics guidelines, which allow to maximize the usefulness of the information provided by radiographs of the pelvis and facilitate early detection of secondary pelvic bone fragment displacement. Also described are the deficiencies and functional outcomes in patients with unstable pelvic ring injuries, treated by both external internal fixation. The basic indications for surgical treatment of pa-tients with post-traumatic deformities of the pelvic ring are formulated. Long-term results of surgical treatment of the injuries to the pelvic ring are evaluated in the context of currently available treatment options. The main complications of the injuries of the pelvic ring including stricture of various aspects of the urethra, and sexual dysfunction in both male and female patients are evaluated depending on the main etiological factors (psychogenic, neurogenic, vascular).
