Abstract:

The article discusses the application of geoinformatics methods and remote sensing of the Earth in monitoring oil pollution of the seas. A methodical approach to the processing of radar images (RLI) obtained using Earth remote sensing spacecraft (remote sensing spacecraft) in order to detect oil pollution on the sea surface is presented. The relevance of the chosen research topic is shown, based on the increasing number of incidents related to oil spills, both during its production on the shelf and during its transportation. The basic principles of detecting oil pollution on the sea and ocean surface with the help of Earth remote sensing spacecraft equipped with radar equipment, as well as approaches to distinguishing oil spills from other geophysical pollution due to SAR, are shown, the issue of increasing the efficiency of detecting such pollution is considered. The structure and stages of the methodological approach to the processing of radar images are presented, each stage is disclosed in detail.
