Abstract:

The study of the requirements of qualified GNSS users shows the need to expand the functions of GNSS digital antenna arrays (DAAs) in a number of applications by adding the function of a digital direction finder. The task of digital radio direction finding in the above-mentioned context is reduced to spatial multi-channel processing of a finite sample of the additive mixture of received, transformed, and accumulated signals in the time domain in the DAA to estimate the coordinates of the sources of navigation signals (NS) and/or sources of interference. Under certain signal-to-noise ratios, it may be effective to use a high-resolution version of the MUSIC (Multiple Signal Classification) angle spectrum estimator, called Unitary-NUSIC. This estimator is a variation of MUSIC that allows the solution to be found in the field of real-number operations.

Objective. To develop an algorithm for forming and evaluating the angle spectrum using the Unitary-MUSIC method for L-band direction finding.

Results. Analytical description of the estimation of angular coordinates based on the Unitary-MUSIC method. Accuracy of estimating the angular coordinate.

Practical significance. The results obtained can be used in the design of digital direction finders based on the CAR.

Unitary MUSIC estimation, resolution, digital direction finder, accuracy.
