A new modification of the magnetic field integral equation is proposed for solution of two-dimensional problems of E- and H-polarized wave scattering by PEC cylinders of arbitrary cross-section. The approach is based on approximation of the cross-section contour by a polygonal contour, on fulfillment of the boundary condition at midpoints of the polygon sides, as well as, unlike the available modifications, on calculation of the matrix elements of the algebraic system with use of completely analytic expressions derived in the study. The effectiveness of the algorithms developed in the study is demonstrated on the examples of solution of scattering problems for the cases of cylinders of square and elliptical cross-sections.
