The problem of building radio networks in а large shielded structure is relevant. It was previously shown that the use of existing methods of electrodynamic analysis leads to a number of difficult problems. As a solution to these problems, it was proposed to use analysis methods in a limited area, to estimate the statistical characteristics of the field distribution, followed by extrapolating the results to the entire object.
However, the application of this approach solves only part of the issues that arise when building a communication network. This article discusses the limitations that arise in the network part of the problem using the existing NS-3 network modeling tool.
Networks with a more complicated configuration corresponding to linear and star-shaped types of association are considered. The number of nodes in the subnet is assumed unchanged. We consider traffic from the last node in the last subnet to the central one, which will correspond to the worst of possible scenarios.
For these cases, the minimum power values necessary for establishing duplex radio communication are given.
It is shown that the required transmitter power (and / or antenna gain) is dependent on the type of room.
Thus, when designing radio communication networks in extended shielded structures, both antenna and network topics are urgently raised and, therefore, the synthesis of such networks requires solving a wide range of problems.
