Attempt of application of diffractive optical elements in antenna equipment

Abstract:
For many years, various optical elements are used in the field of optics and electromagnetism. For example a lens may be used for the concentration or dispersion of the transmitted beam of electromagnetic energy depending on task. Such optical elements are most often used at high frequencies. At lower frequencies, they tend to be very large and heavy. Zoning can help reduce this problem (division into zones reduces the size of the lens). It is proposed to apply the simplest diffractive optical element (an amplitude lens of Fresnel) as collecting lens together with the TEM- horn antenna. Comparative characteristics of two options of a design are provided.
