Abstract:
Developed and investigated radiation-protective composites filled with neutron radiation absorber (boron nitride, boron carbide) and gamma radiation absorber (nanotungsten) with metal (aluminum alloys) and polymer (UHWPE) matrix. Of greatest interest are alu-minum matrix composites 4 combinations АMg6+BN+W; V95+BN+W; АМg6+B4C+W; V95+B4C+W and polymer matrix composites combining В4С+W+UHWPE. Shown the results of mechanical and radiation testing laboratory samples. Study samples calorimetry po-lymer composites showed that their hardening occurs because of a reorientation and stretching of the polymer chains exposed to al-ternating loads during annealing. Review promising field of application of radiation-protective composites for aerospace, nuclear in-dustries and in medicine.
