The system estimates parameters of transport streams based on the processing of navigation data on the movement of vehicles

Abstract:
The article contains the evaluation method of the traffic streams main parameters with the use of two-fluid mathematic model of Herman-Prigogine based on the passive processing of the navigational data regarding the traffic flow on highways and street and road network of the cities. It allows significantly increase the quality and adequacy of the modeling results if compared to the traditional use of Herman-Prigogine model based on the active processing of the navigational data. The evaluation system for the traffic streams parameters has been developed. It contains modules of navigational data acquisition, storage, track data verification, control data of road sections (streets), calculation subsystem of transport streams parameters with the use of Herman-Prigogine method and road sections (streets) clustering according to the obtained parameters. The performance efficiency of the proposed algorithms, mathematical models for evaluating the transport streams parameters and the system in whole have been approved during its testing using a set of tracks on the main highways of the Republic of Belarus. The obtained results can be applied in the traffic focus area in order to support the decision-making regarding monitoring and re-distribution of the traffic streams, analysis of the traffic loads, and optimal traffic arrangement as well as when upgrading the existing and designing new road networks.
