Abstract:

Correlation analysis of cyclostationary unintentional electromagnetic emissions of electronic devices registered in the near field in time domain allows to localize the transmission lines on the surface of the device under test, identify emission sources and predict the direction of emission propagation in the far field. Test setup for near-field measurements based on electric and magnetic field probes, a positioning system, a high-speed multichannel digital oscilloscope and a computer is introduced. The revealed cyclostationary properties of digital interface emissions are used for synchronous averaging and estimation of two-dimensional auto- and cross correlation functions. Spread spectrum clocking technology used in modern digital electronic devises disturbs the cyclostationary properties of electromagnetic radiation and does not allow to localize the sources on the surface of the device under test.

The development of the algorithm for compensating frequency modulation in unintentional electromagnetic emissions recorded in the near field of electronic devices for localization and identification of sources on cyclic characteristics.

The features of time, spectral and statistical characteristics of digital interfaces signals in digital electronic devices with spread spectrum clocking are formulated. An algorithm for demodulation of spread spectrum clock signals used in modern digital electronic devices is developed. It is shown that the application of the algorithm allows to recover cyclostationary properties in the electromagnetic emission of an electronic device registered in the near field in time domain. The efficiency of the developed de-spreading algorithm is confirmed by using cyclic cross-correlation function for cyclostationary radiation on the surface of the Spartan 6 FPGA.

The developed de-spreading algorithm for signals with spread spectrum clocking measured in the near field in the time domain allows to localize unintentional electromagnetic emission sources on the surface of the device under test.
