Abstract:

A new design of an antenna array (AA) has been proposed for operation as part of mobile communication base stations in the frequency band 1710–2170 MHz (fractional bandwidth 23.6%). The antenna array is implemented on all-metal radiators with two inclined orthogonal polarizations, each of which consists of four loop dipoles. To stabilize the width of the radiation pattern, a design for the arrangement of dipoles in the antenna array has been developed. The proposed antenna array design consists of three sections: single bipolarization dipoles are installed in the upper and lower sections. The middle section contains pairs of dual-polarization dipoles connected by equal-amplitude power dividers.

The width of the radiation pattern at half power level is 36º±2.3º, the gain is 20.5 dB. The manufactured array has a stable radiation pattern width, a gain of 20.5 dB, high matching and isolation between polarizations (S11 = –18 dB, S12 = –30 dB). The side lobe level in the horizontal radiation plane of the antenna array is below –20 dB. The proposed AR has a compact technological design, ready for mass production.
