Abstract:

The functioning of radio-technical systems, the antenna system of which is a phased antenna array, is largely determined by the ability to maintain at the required level the basic characteristics of the antenna system, in particular, the width of the main lobe of the antenna radiation pattern, generally defined by the product of the directivity functions of a single radiator and the antenna system multiplier under the influence of external factors. For the practice of phased antenna array application, it is interesting to reveal the degree of change in the antenna radiation pattern and its shape as a whole in case of failure of typical elements. To determine the functional dependence allowing analytical evaluation of the influence of the location of the failed elements in the phased antenna array on the shape of its radiation pattern. As a functional dependence for comparative estimation of influence of failures of phased antenna array radiators depending on their coordinates it is proposed to introduce the use of the weight function of the failed element. The variant of estimating the influence of the location of the failed elements in the phased antenna array on the shape of its antenna radiation pattern based on application of the weight function of the failed element in order to improve the quality of radio-technical systems functioning is considered. It is shown that the influence of failures of the elements causing the field amplitude change on the phased antenna array antenna radiation pattern is less in comparison with the failures causing the field phase change. The presented variant of estimation of the influence of the location of failed elements in the phased antenna array on the shape of antenna radiation pattern based on the use of the weight function of the failed element allows analytically justified determination of the possibility of operation of the phased antenna array with different variants of element failures at the design stage and during its operation.
