Continuous improvement of coding and modulation methods determines the possible variety of signals. A wide list of the latter is regulated by international and commercial standards, including in satellite communication systems. However, modern satellite modems of both domestic and foreign production support only a part of such signals, which limits their area of application.
In this regard, the analysis of the main foreign standards that determine signal formation in satellite communication systems is carried out. Based on the results of the analysis, the types of modulation and forward error correction are determined, block diagrams of generation devices and lists of signals provided for by the relevant standards are presented. It is established that the number of standardized signals are more than two hundred types.
The results can be used to form proposals for the coordination of satellite equipment from various manufacturers and the development of a universal modem with support for all signals.
