Abstract:

Organizing the information transmission by means of a short-range radio link in a microwave range allows to provide high noise immunity when transmitting relatively large amounts of discrete information and when speed of a vehicle is high. The paper presents an engineering method of calculating parameters used in radio channels of antennas. The requirements for pyramidal horn antennas are analyzed. We determined how the amounts of transmitted data depend on antenna parameters and mutual arrangement of electronic sensors as well as on speed of vehicles' motion and frequency of the modulating signal. It is shown that the time of information exchange over the radio channel decreases with the increase in a vehicle speed and with the decrease in sensors' range. It is also shown that the amount of transmitted information is directly proportional to the distance between transmitting-receiving antennas of the sensors and their aperture angle, and inversely proportional to the speed of a vehicle and the frequency of the modulating signal.
