Experimental research of leaky-wave antenna based on partially filled rectangular waveguide with long slit

Abstract:
Results of experimental research of leaky-wave antenna based on the rectangular waveguide with long slit in narrow wall and layered cross-section structure are presented in this paper. A design of prototype is described, conclusion about boundaries of its application is made. Experimental values of the scattering matrix elements, far field radiation patterns, measured in anechoic chamber, are given. Observed trends are analyzed, explanation of observed processes is given. A comparison of obtained results with the results of computer modeling and preliminary theoretical calculations is carried out. The correctness of the previously developed calculation technique of complex propagation constant of eigenwaves of slotted radiated structure based on partially filled rectangular waveguide is confirmed. The conclusion about the validity of the investigated antenna type representation as an ideal linear radiator is made.
